Edappily Mana | Residence
Project Summary
Located in the serene town of Kuruvilangad in Kottayam district, the project site is a south-facing terraced plot that enjoys a naturally elevated position above the adjacent road and accessible via an internal road. The client’s primary requirement was to build a single-storied residence comprising three bedrooms, designed strictly in accordance with Vastu Shastra. The vision was to create a home that balances spiritual well-being, climatic responsiveness, and aesthetic appeal.
The layout centres around an open-to-sky courtyard, which brings in ample light and ventilation while serving as the home’s core. The entrance veranda leads to the living room, connecting smoothly to other spaces: the master bedroom in the southwest, study to the west, second bedroom in the northwest, and the third bedroom in southeast with an open kitchen to the northeast. The dining area ties these spaces together around the courtyard.
Architecturally, the house combines traditional Kerala elements with modern design. A sloped roof accommodates the monsoon climate, while laterite stone cladding adds warmth and regional character. The result is a well-balanced home that respects tradition while offering contemporary comfort.
